How to download a file when copying or forwarding is disabled in Telegram

When a Telegram channel or chat restricts message forwarding, text copying, or direct file saving, the limitation is enforced by the channel administrator. SpyGrabs enables you to save files and messages you already have access to, without screen recording or manual workarounds.

Why forwarding and saving are blocked

When channel administrators turn on "Restrict saving content" in Telegram settings, several standard features are disabled simultaneously:

  • Forwarding messages to "Saved Messages" or other chats is blocked.
  • Right-clicking on desktop or long-pressing on mobile does not offer a "Save file as..." option.
  • Text copying is disabled inside the message bubble.

This setting protects intellectual property from casual distribution, but it also creates friction for paying students and members who need offline access to study materials.

Solution 1: Use the direct post link for single messages

Forwarding may be disabled, but Telegram still allows you to copy the message link. That link contains the exact reference needed by @spygrabsplus_bot:

  1. Right-click (desktop) or long-press (mobile) the post and select Copy Link.
  2. Send the link to the bot.
  3. For ordinary public posts, the bot queues the task without account authorization and sends the available file when processing completes.
  4. For private channels, connect your authorized session so the bot can access what your account is permitted to see.
  5. You receive the original file and formatted caption directly in your chat with the bot.

Solution 2: When copying is disabled in direct 1-on-1 conversations

If the restricted content was sent in a direct personal chat rather than a channel, post links do not exist. SpyGrabs Premium includes a dedicated direct chat export tool designed specifically for these situations.

Solution 3: When saving an entire channel or course archive

Authorization security & privacy

  • Official MTProto session: Authorization uses the login code sent by Telegram. If two-step verification is enabled on your account, the flow will also ask for your Telegram 2FA password to complete sign-in.
  • Revoke access anytime: You maintain complete control and can terminate the session at any moment in Settings → Devices → Active Sessions.
  • Temporary files: The service uses temporary processing files and removes them after processing. If a technical failure interrupts cleanup, removal may be delayed.
